Gingival and Periodontal diseases in children
Children and adolescents are exposed to a variety of gingivitis, and epidemiological studies indicate that gingivitis of varying severity is an almost universal finding in children and adolescents. Serious periodontal diseases may occur in children with certain systemic diseases, and the presence of severe periodontitis is an early sign of systemic diseases. Although health awareness about gums and treatment is increasing day by day in our country compared to previous days, it is limited to adults instead of children. Likewise, examination of the oral cavity in children is largely directed at evaluating hard tissues rather than soft tissue health, the extent of the prevalence of various soft tissue diseases, and the importance of maintaining comprehensive oral health over the long term in childhood.
